The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) today announced the launch of the 119K Commission which seeks to aid the 20% of 14-26 year olds in the state who are at risk of not graduating high school or are already disconnected from education and employment opportunities.
The 15-member commission will be led by three chairs: Torrington Mayor Elinor Carbone; Andrew Ferguson, the chief executive at Dalio; and Josh Brown, a high school dropout who became a banking executive and leader of Domus, a non-profit serving teens in Stamford.
Months after the release of an alarming report on the growing population of disconnected youth in Connecticut, a new commission will work to tackle the issue.
